Junior Hurlers in Championship.

On this coming Saturday night our Junior A Hurling team are in East Cork Championship action. We meet Killeagh in the next round of the competition in Ballynoe at 7.30pm. We suffered a heavy defeat to St. Catherines in the first round in Castlelyons six weeks ago. We received a bye in the next round. Killeagh were defeated in round 1 as well but got the better of Carrigtwohill in their 'back door' game with a very impressive display. Since the first round game we've had a few League games where the form was good. Last week we played Castletownroche in a friendly game and lost by a margin of five points on a 0.13 to 0  8 scoreline. The game on Saturday night will be a big step up with no second chances left at this stage. Our team is a nice mixture of both young and experienced players. Go for it lads, it wont be easy but no championship tie comes soft.

On Monday night July 20th our Junior C Hurlers travelled to Ballynoe to play the home side in a Division $ Junior League game. We won by 3  12 to 1  19, details next week.

SHC Glen Rovers next.

Well after many weeks of eager waiting the Draws for Round 4 of the 2015 Cork Senior Hurling Championship were made on Sunday night last in Pairc Ui Rinn. We have been paired with Glen Rovers in our next game. The Glen got to the county Final last year and will be formidable opponents. They have a strong tradition of winning 'the County' and are always there or thereabouts in the championship

The full draw is   A Douglas v Duhallow B Bishopstown/St. Finbarr's v Midleton Glen Rovers v Bride Rovers D Blackrock v Newtownshandrum E Na Piarsaigh v Erin's Own F Ballymartle v Carrigtwohill G Sarsfields v Youghal H Imokilly v Ballyhea.  Quarter-Finals; A v B, C v DE v ,F G v H

RED FM SENIOR HURLING LEAGUE.

We had two games in the last week in the RED FM Cork County SHL which resulted in two nice wins. We travelled to Church Road to take on Blackrock on a wet and windy night. In a low scoring encounter the final score was;

 Blackrock: 0-10  Bride Rovers: 0-13

TEAM; D Carr, F Collins, M Collins, D Dooley, S Glasgow, F Hogan, B Johnson, M Kearney, S Kearney, J Mannix, J Murphy, C O’ Connor, B O’ Driscoll, J Pratt, S Ryan, B Walsh, S Walsh.

At high noon on last Sunday Newtownshandrum were visitors to Pairc na Bride. This was a much more open, free flowing game which we won  on a final score of

Newtownshandrum: 0-14 Bride Rovers: 0-23

TEAM: D Buckley, D Carr, F Collins, M Collins, W Finnegan, L Forde, F Hogan, B Johnson, M Kearney, S Kearney, M Liddane, J Mannix, J Murphy, C O’ Connor, B O’ Driscoll, S Pratt, J Pratt, R Prendergast, S Ryan, B Walsh.

Our championship game against Glen Rovers hinges on how Cork fare on Sunday next. If Cork lose we could be out on the Bank Holiday weekend. If Cork win our game could go off a bit further.

CORK V GALWAY.

It's another huge game for the Cork hurling team on Sunday next when Galway are thee opposition in Thurles in an All Ireland quarter final. Since losing to Waterford Cork have played well against Wexford and Clare. They will have to move up another gear on Sunday if they are to beat a Galway side who are highly rated. Best of luck to Brian Murphy and all his team mates.
