Ladies Football & Camogie..

On Sunday 29th May, our senior football team travelled to Brinny to play Valley Rovers in Round 3 of the league. Conditions were tough as it was an extremely hot day but each and every player worked extremely hard. Leading 3 08 to 2 03 at the half time whistle, Rovers upped another gear in the second half to convert some fine scores and they ran out eventual winners by a comfortable margin. Scorers: Maeve Leahy (3 02), Jen Barry (1 03), Aoife O'Riordan (1 00), Jen Cahill (04), Leah Hallihan and Lily Murray (02 each), Ava Barry, Eleanor Ahern and Emma Roche (01 each). Next game is away to Clonakilty.

On Thursday 2nd June, our minor footballers played away to neighbours, Fermoy, in the East Cork league. This is a league for non-exam players in order to give girls games during what is normally a quiet time in terms of matches. This was certainly a game of two halves with Fermoy leading by a very sizeable margin the first half and Rovers, whilst certainly creating many scoring chances, were unable to convert. However, the girls found their range in the second half and chipped away at Fermoy's lead to run out eventual winners by a four point margin. The next two games will see Rovers pitted against Erin's Own and Glanmire.

On Tuesday 31st May, our junior camogie team travelled to Grenagh for their league semi-final. Rovers led at half time  2 04 to 1 00. This was a very tough battle against a strong Grenagh team  but Rovers came out on top at the final whistle on a scoreline of 3 10 to 1 06. The junior league final will be against Midleton who we met earlier in the league, details to be confirmed.
Scorers: Chloe O'Flynn (1 06),Abbie Hoare (2 00), Aislinn O'Connor (02), Arianne O'Flynn and Lily Murray (01 each)
