Minor Hurling replay on Saturday..

On this coming Saturday, October 20th, we replay our Cork Minor Premier 2 County Minor Hurling championship final. Last Monday week- an emotional and poignant day for the Club, we played out a thrilling draw with Shandrum under the lights in Pairc Ui Rinn. It finished 15 points apiece in a game of contrasting fortunes and changing leads we were six points ahead at one stage, came from two down near the end, took the lead and then settled for a draw. The replay will be played in the fine Mourneabbey Grounds of the Clyda Rovers Club at 3 o clock on Saturday. This team has given us fantastic entertainment all year with some brilliant hurling played. We are in with a great chance to take the County Title so go for it lads. Bride Rovers Abu.

Under 21 H Semi Final.

Our County under 21 hurling semi-final  against passage was postponed last Saturday and has now been refixed for Saturday week October 27th. At present it’s a 7.30pm fixture under lights but no venue has been finalised yet.

Under 11 Hurling.

On Saturday last our under 11 hurlers played Eire Og in a challenge game. After a good game the Mid Cork side won on a scoreline of Bride Rovers 1 6 Eire Og 4 6. On tonight Thursday October 18th the under 11 footballers are away to Glenville in a challenge game.

Jim O Donovan- Jimbob.

It’s still hard to accept that our No 1 supporter is gone from our midst. Following Bride Rovers and Cork in Hurling, football, camogie and Ladies Football all over Cork, Munster and indeed Ireland Jim was an ever present figure cheering on teams in Green, White and Gold and Red and White. Truly he loved the games and how he was loved and appreciated by each and every one he ever met on the side-lines and playing fields all over the country. An indication of just how much Jim meant to our community was in evidence last Friday night and again on Saturday. When Jim made his last return to his native parish on Friday night literally hundreds of players and officials lined the route into Rathcormac wearing Bride Rovers and Cork colours.  From Senior players down to the under 10’s they stood in silence to pay a very fitting and moving tribute to a very special friend. It was the same in the rain on Saturday after Fr Neilus O Donnell PE had celebrated a most wonderful and uplifting Mass to remember Jim. After the burial in Kilcrumper Paddy O Brien sang ‘Absent Friend’ a true summing up of all our thoughts and feelings. Thanks Jimbob for all you’ve done for the young people of our Club and Parish.
