Hurlers Lose out in High Scoring Final..

For the second Sunday in a row we were involved in Hurling League Final action but we lost out in the Division 4 Final on Sunday last. With pitches difficult to come by because of the bad weather we travelled the short distance to Watergrasshill to take on the home side in the East Cork JHL division 4 Final. In fairness the pitch was in excellent condition for the time of the year. The Hill had a stiffish breeze in the first half and got a string of early points followed by a goal which gave them a 1 5 to 0 2 lead after twelve minutes. They added a further  2 1 before the break while we scored a further six points from Gavin Quill 2, Richie Cahill , DJ Cahill 2 and Shane O Connor to leave us 3 6 to 0 8 in arrears at half time. Points from Richie, Stephen Boyce, Donal Ryan and two from DJ Cahill brought our tally to 13. When Shane O Connor scored a goal  followed by a quick point from Donal we were right back in the game. At one stage we had the margin down to just three points with five minutes left. The Hill finished strongly however to win by 3 18 to 2 15. It was a great performance from a third team against a second team. Well done lads, we won the C grade championship and reached the League Final so it has been a fantastic season for the team.  Credit to all the players who took part in both League and Championship especially the long serving lads who have given tremendous service to the club this years and over many years.

Team v Watergrasshill; Terry Broderick, Podge Noonan Capt, Pa O  Driscoll, Tadhg O Sullivan, Adrian Buckley, Pat Walsh, Brian Lahive, Stephen Boyce, Shane O Connor, Gavin Quill, Richie Cahill, Gavin O Flynn, Sean Cotter, Donal Ryan, DJ Cahill.

This game finishes our playing season for 2015. Thanks to all the players who lined out in the Green, White and Gold of Bride Rovers in all grades during the year. Within a few weeks the Draws for 2016 will be made and we will be looking forward to the new season.

Volunteers.

We are always seeking new players from four years and upwards and of course older players who may have played with other clubs and are now living in the parish are more than welcome to join the Bride Rovers Club. People who never played the games are encouraged to join too as we have a role for everyone. Maybe your talent is in gardening or landscaping, in IT or fundraising, in catering, cleaning, flag-making or any other of the many tasks that have to be undertaken in a busy GAA Club. Some people are afraid if they 'join up' they will be overburdened but don’t worry on that score. If you want to give an hour a week or an hour a month to the Bride Rovers Club that contribution will be very much appreciated and respected. They say 'many hands make light work' and in the case of a GAA Club it is really the truth. In the next few weeks the playing season on all fronts will be in full swing -why not get involved with your local GAA Club? If you want further information on what you could do ring 087 9538077.
