We played the first round of the U16 championship at home last Friday night against Watergrasshill. This was a tight game from start to finish with the Rovers emerging winners by the narrowest of margins. Watergrasshill started strong even though they were against the wind and had 3 points scored before we settled. Patrick and Kieran had to be at their best at midfield as Conleith pointed 5 from frees and Conor scored 2 from play after some great work from Tom and Jordan. Bens puck out were finding their targets and John And Matthew were playing well at the back. Watergrasshill scored an additional 1-3 before the break while Conor scored a point and Brian scored 1-2

We were playing with a strong wind for the second half and pushed forward at every chance. Cian and Eoin were condfident in defence while Seamus and Christopher were playing well up front. Conleith scored another 2 points 1 (1 free).  Watergrasshill went through a strong passage of play until Griffin sent a long free into Shane who scored a goal. Brian then pointed. U11/U12

The under 11/12 teams had a busy week last week with a home match to Cobh away match to st. Catherines and a trip to Cellbridge Co. Kildare to play in a blitz

The first game of the week was under 12 hurling at home on Monday 22nd to Cobh where we ran out comfortable winners on a score line of 7 goals 8 points to 1 goal 3points

Bride Rovers 5-7 St Catherines 0-5

On Wednesday 24th June we traveled to St Catherine to play U11 hurling. We settled very quickly and the scores were coming easy to the boys and by half time we were 4-5 ahead ,but the second half was a different affair as St Catherines piled on the pressure but our boys stood up to it and we managed to score a further 1-2 to St Catherines 5pt.

Saturday 27th of June we travelled to Cellbridge in Co Kildare to play in a blitz, we set out from Rathcormac at 7.30 as our first game was timed for 11.20 It was going to be 15 mins per half so the boys would have to perform from the start to have any chance .

Bride Rovers 3-4 Kiltale(Meath) 1-4

Our first opponents were Kiltale Co. Meath, we were very slow to settle in this match yes we got the first  point but that was going to be our only score in this half as kiltale got the next 5 scores leaving us trailing at half time by 1-4 to 1pt ,there was a strong breeze which was in kiltake advantage in the first half so we were very hopefull the boys would up there performance which they did and kept kiltale scoreless in the second half while scoring 3-3 we ran out winners by 6pts

Bride Rovers 1-12 V Eire Og (Dublin) 1-1

Once again we played our first half against the breeze but this time the boys played good hurling from the start and had 4pts on the score board before Eire Og got a point, before the half was out we had a further goal and a point added to our score, on the resumption of the second half Eire Og attacked and got a quick goal but once again the boys upped there game and put a futher 6points on the score board and Eire Og were unable to add any more scores we ran out winners by 11 points, we came out top of the group so next was the semi final our opponents were to be Mount Sion

Bride Rovers 3-9 Mount Sion (Waterford) 2-1

Mount Sion came out of there group on top and had clocked up high scores so again the boy were told they had to be on top of there game. Once the whistle was sounded we knew this was going to be a hard game but like the previous two games the boys got down to the task and by half time we were up 2-3 to 2-0, in the second half we held mount Sion to a single point and we scored a further 1-6 winning by a margin of 11pts ,now for the second year running we were into the A1 final and were hoping we could go a step futher than last year and win the final

Final

Bride Rovers 1-10 Naas 0-3

At the start of this match the nerves were showing in both teams but it was our boys who settled faster and were hurling better winning by a margin of 10 pts. When the final whistle sounded it was cheers all round, this was a great achievement by all. Well done to the boys and the management.
