County Premier 2 Minor Hurling Champions.. - 20/10/2018

Congrats to our Minor Hurlers who won the Cork County Premier 2 Minor Hurling Championship v Shandrum. The game was even throughout the opening fifteen minutes before Brian Roche with a superb low shot to the corner of the net put us in control and we led 1.7 to  0.5. However Shandrum came into the game and had a goal themselves before half time to see just two points between the sides at 1.11 to 1.9 on thirty minutes.

The opening minutes of the second half saw both sides exchange several points  but it was noticeable that our half forward line was coming more into the game and a few long range points one in particular from Paddy O Flynn put us 5 points ahead  on 48 minutes.

Shandrum came looking for a goal and when the full forward was hauled down a penalty was awarded. Ben Hogan was equal to the task, saved and cleared down the field. A series of points followed by Brian Roche, Griffin O Keeney, Edmond Cashman and the very accurate Conor Barry from frees and play to see out the game before competent referee Diarmuid Kirwan blew the whistle and we were crowned county Champions in Premier 2 Hurling for 2018.

After the cup was presented to captain Conor Barry, he was also presented with the man of the match award . The evening was rounded of with a rendition of Bride Rovers abu by John Arnold   http://briderovers.ie/contentPage/348945/club_song
