East Cork JFL Div 3..

Our Junior football team played their last league game away to Castlemartyr on Monday night.  It was an important game  as a win would put us in a good position to reach the league final.  From our previous five matches we had two wins, two draws and one loss.   We started the game well with three points from play from Éinne O hÉochaidh, Shane O'Connor and Ryan Prendergast.  Castlemartyr responded with a pointed free and two points from play.  William Finnegan pointed a free before referee Brian Murphy stopped play for a much needed water break.  With the resumption of play our midfield pairing of William Finnegan and Daniel Dooley started to get a foothold, and from a series of well won kickouts, we scored a series of points to take a 0-8 to 0-4 lead at half time.  The four points came from Shane O'Connor, William Finnegan (2) and Liam Forde. The second half was a testing period as the temperatures and pressure from Castlemartyr forced the team to work hard.  Éinne O hÉochaidh scored the first point of the second half, followed by a point from a free by William Finnegan.  Our full back line of Shane Walsh, Jake Tobin and Tadhg O'Sullivan began to make piercing runs forward, resulting in Shane scoring a fine point from 35 yards.  Terry Broderick scored two points from play, and Damien Buckley scored a point from a free, before the game ended on a scoreline of Bride Rovers 0-16 to Castlemertyr 0-10.

We are now on 8 points in this League with 6 games played. Russell Rovers are on 7 and Castlemartyr on 6 but both have a game to play. Our next game is against Ballinacurra on Sunday night in the semi-final of the Junior B football championship.  The game is timed for 7pm in Lisgould.

Tony Walsh Memorial Tournament on Sunday Week.

On Sunday week July 22nd we play Tallow in the Final of the Tony Walsh Hurling Tournament at 11.30 am in Pairc na Bride.

Under 11's

Our under 11 team were at home to Grenagh in a hurling game at Pyne's Field. After an exciting and close game we came out on top on a scoreline of 3 6 to 3 4. The Under 11's played a 3 team blitz at home last night (Wed) with Sars, Whitechurch and Bride Rovers participating.

U15 Premier 2 Hurling League.

We played Valley Rovers last Wednesday evening in Brinny in the u15 hurling league. It was a high scoring contest with the home side winning on a scoreline of 5-15 to 2-15. We were short several players for a variety of reasons on the night but the lads that came in did very well.  Panel Frank O Flynn,  Jacob Powell, Liam Collins, Eldon O Connor, David Barry, Conor Hazelwood,  Nicky Kelleher, Ronan O Connell, Cillian Tobin, Denis Cashman, Adam Walsh, Adam Hayes, Adam Hynes, Josh Ahern,  Tiernan McAllister, Edmund Cashman, Ben Knox,  Luke Harrington, Louis Roche,Cillian Barry.

Rebel OG Premier 2 MHL.

On last Friday night we had a good win over Glen Rovers at home in the Co MHL.

We led by 3 7 to 0 4 at half time. The Blackpool came more into the contest  in the second half but we still won by 3 20 to 1 12. Our scorers were C. Ryan 2 4, C. Barry 0 6, B. Roche 1 0, C. Hogan, S. Knox, G. O Keeney, E. Cashman 0 2 each, S. Ahern 0 1, E. Roche 0 1.

Bride Rovers Win  Theresa Walsh memorial  Tournament 

On Saturday morning last we hosted the Theresa Walsh memorial Tournament in Pairc na Bride. It was a great occasion with three counties Cork, Tipperary and Waterford represented.  Bride Rovers,  Mount Sion,  Lismore and St Mary's (Clonmel) contested this fantastic hurling tournament. The  first game was the Rovers vs Lismore with the Rovers winning on a scoreline of 4-5 to 0  2 . Our scorers  were Conor Hazelwood 2-2 Adam Hayes 0-1, Josh Ahern 0-1, Cillian Tobin 1-0,  Denis Cashman 1-0.  The second semi final was a gripping contest between St Mary's and the Ken McGrath coached Mount Sion with the Clonmel side coming out on top.  The 3rd and 4th place play off between Mount Sion and Lismore was a cracker with Mount Sion coming out on top by a point. It was onto the Tournament final then  between the Rovers and St Mary's. Having witnessed all the previous games this writer felt St Mary's might have the edge after their great semi final win. The Final  turned out to be a great display of attacking hurling with the Rovers winning on a scoreline of 4-15 to 0-0. It was really breathtaking stuff as our  boys were relentless on winning this trophy back as the scoreline shows.  After the Final Brendan Walsh presented the medals to the winners and runners up. Pat Walsh spoke emotionally about his late mother Theresa and her determination and positive attitude during her illness and her love of Bride Rovers. Thanks to all the members of the Walsh family for attending and for their support last Saturday. On receiving the Trophy Team captain David Barry replied very eloquently thanking the Tournament organisers, the Walsh family and the Bride Rovers selectors and trainers. He then called for the customary three cheers for St. Marys.Thanks to all who helped with the catering on the day and helping in any way. Thanks to our referees Seanie Knox, Griffin O Keeney and Pa O Driscoll.

UNDER 13 FOOTBALL..

The u13s will be playing in the Rebel Og  football championship/blitz in Killavullen next Saturday 14th of July. We will have three games against Killavullen, St. Dominic’s, and Kilara Óg The first match is at noon an the winner of this blitz moves on to play another group winner the following weekend. 

Under 6 Hurling and Football.

Training continues each week for all under 6 players with everyone welcome. A special warm welcome is extended to new players. Bride Rovers U6s training is as follows ; Wednesday nights  6.30pm to 7.15pm  for Football and Saturday mornings 10 am until 11am for Hurling.

Bride Rovers 2018 Cul Camp.

A reminder to all our young players that the 2018 Cul Camp runs from the 23rd to the 27th July this year.  The Cul Camp is a very important part of the Juvenile Clubs annual activities. Hurling and Football skills are taught to young players in a friendly and fun-filled atmosphere.
